Modeling Tip
Creating Modeling Scenarios in AERSCREEN View
The AERSCREEN model is very efficient however it only processes a single source per run. To address this limitation, AERSCREEN View includes the Scenario Wizard which allows modelers to quickly create any number of model runs for analysis.
See our video modeling tip below for an overview of the Scenario Wizard.

Improving Air Quality Could Prevent Thousands of Deaths in India
August 7, 2018 - More than 6.1 million people worldwide die each year as a result of exposure to air pollution, which increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, lung disease, and cancer. In India, which contains many of the world’s most polluted cities, the annual death toll from air pollution exceeds 1.6 million. Now, a new study shows how implementing stricter emissions standards in India could save hundreds of thousands of lives each year.
Climate Taxes on Agriculture Could Lead to More Food Insecurity Than Climate Change Itself
July 30, 2018 - New IIASA-led research has found that a single climate mitigation scheme applied to all sectors, such as a global carbon tax, could have a serious impact on agriculture and result in far more widespread hunger and food insecurity than the direct impacts of climate change. Smarter, inclusive policies are necessary instead.
This research, published in Nature Climate Change is the first international study to compare across models the effects of climate change on agriculture with the costs and effects of mitigation policies, and look at subsequent effects on food security and the risk of hunger.
States Boost Renewable Energy and Economic Development When Utilities Adopt Renewable Standards
July 23, 2018 - States that require utilities to increase renewable energy see an expansion of renewable energy facilities and generation -- including wind and other renewable sources, but especially solar -- according to new research from Indiana University and two other institutions.
IU's Sanya Carley led a team of researchers including Nikolaos Zirogiannis, an assistant scientist at IU, and law professors Lincoln Davies of the University of Utah and David B. Spence of University of Texas at Austin. The group closely examined the history and evolution of state renewable portfolio standards and interviewed more than 40 experts about renewable portfolio standards implementation.
US National Parks Have Just as Much Air Pollution as Major Cities
July 18, 2018 - The air in US national parks contains just as much ozone pollution as the air in many of the country’s largest cities, according to a study published on 18 July in Science Advances.
The findings raise important health questions for people who visit the parks, says Ivan Rudik, an environmental economist at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, and a study co-author. That’s because exposure to ozone pollution can irritate the nose and throat, lead to chest pain or exacerbate conditions such as asthma.
